The Affordable warmth scheme is part of the government’s ECO scheme and provides grants to replace inefficient or faulty storage heaters.
Modern electric night storage heaters are better insulated with the heat input and output more controllable thereby making them more efficient.
The amount of grant available will depend upon the type of property you live in, the number of bedrooms and various other factors.
Grant funding will only cover the cost of replacing storage heaters and a limited amount of electrical work.
Modern electric storage heaters are fitted with a convector fan to provide additional heat to that which is stored overnight if you are on the economy 7 tariff or equivalent you may need an additional electric supplier to the heater to enable the convector fan to operate.
The grant may not cover the full cost of replacement storage heaters and a contribution may be needed.
